Dan družbenih omrežij 2025 (Social Networks Day 2025)
Our museum was invited to Ljubljana for a gathering of marketing professionals Dan družbenih omrežji 2025 (Social Networks Day 2025) to present the promotional project “Alternate Re[AI]lity: Computer History circa 1890”, which won two global awards and garnered us a lot of media attention.
Why our activities might be interesting to such a group of media professionals who work for the largest Slovenian companies such as Petrol, Gorenje and Telekom Slovenije? We believe that we are an excellent “case study” of how, with the help of modern technology and social networks, great results can be achieved with “near zero budget”. We achieved growth without scaling, but in a positive way.
As our museum is a project of a non-profit association, the resources for growth are very limited and therefore we have had to rely on a bunch of advanced technologies which, fortunately, are mostly free or affordable enough for us to use. We did part of it ourselves for our Japan in Rijeka project, but for the advanced AI campaign we got help from the specialized Slovenian AI studio Digital da Vincis, who brilliantly realized the entire campaign based on the idea of what the world would look like if computers had been invented much earlier.
Overall, the global number of online impressions across a range of platforms and media exceeded 2.5 million! And that is really impressive for a small museum from Rijeka that lives thanks to enthusiasm, and not on large corporate budgets for promotion. That’s why we believe that a lot can be learned from our example, not only about new AI technologies, but also about a creative approach to promotion. We were told: “Ah, it’s easy to do a good promotion when you have a great project!”, but our opinion is that nothing is easy and does not come by itself, it takes years of work and experience to put together a good mosaic that will then be recognized, appreciated and socially useful.
We would also like to thank our Slovenian hosts for their warm welcome and highly recommend that you visit Dan družbenih omrežij next year!
