30 Years of PlayStation – Japan in Rijeka

Japan in Rijeka is a six-week event dedicated to Japanese culture and technology. Main exhibiton is dedicated to 30th anniversary of Sony PlayStation game console and also to history of Sony – the largest Japanese electronics company that gave us so many everyday useful inventions.. The exhibition will present almost 200 items and many historical facts from early history of Sony. A number of rare PlayStation consoles will be displayed from the museum’s collection. Guided tours will be available.

Our museum will take you back to your carefree childhood for a few hours and allow you to play on all versions of the PlayStation consoles. Prize tournaments will be organized in popular games such as Gran Turismo, Tekken, FIFA game series and other popular multiplayer titles.

But that’s just part of the rich program that has something for everyone who loves Japanese culture: exhibitions, concerts, lectures, workshops, a gastronomic section, sports, quizzes, workshops for children and the creation of a huge mural of friendship between the cities of Kawasaki and Rijeka.

The program was supported by the Embassy of Japan, EU-Japan Fest organization with help from local government and tourist boards. A number of associations and institutions, as well as companies, joined the event. Special thanks to the city of Kawasaki, with whose help a mural of friendship will be created, painted by artist Yusei Sagawa.
